1991 175 H/P EVINRUDE SHIFT PROBLEMS

AFTER SHIFTING THE MOTOR INTO GEAR IT WILL GRIND UNLESS Y0U ACTUALLY MOVE THE LEVER DOWN FURTHER AND INCREASING THE RPM'S. IT EVENTUALLY DOES KICK INTO GEAR. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Sounds like linkage ajustment is in order to get if far enough to go into gear. good luck

hey I had the same problem I could get neutral and forward or neutral and reverse but could not get both properly adjusted, I ended up adjusting so I could get forward properly and just live with engaging reverse by using some further movement to fully shift.
