I have a 35 HP Eninrude outboard that runs great, but just quits running occasionaly for no reason. I have to squeeze the primer bulb (it loses pressure) until it is hard, and the motor will run great. it is almost like it runs out of gas. Doesn't do it all the time, but just enough to be annoying. I checked the fuel lines , no leaks. When I open the gas tank, there is a loud burp (tank is pressurized). I was going to try replacing the primer bulb, but does anyone have any suggestions first? Is this a sign of a bad fuel pump? How would I diagnose this?<br />Thanks!

What year model should it have a pressurized tank? Does tank have vent if so open it if not try running with a half tank of gas and leave tank lid ajar. You may have wrong tank.

If you have a dual line tank on this engine that is the wrong one like REELSPORT says. Otherwise you need a vented tank. Does the primer bulb get sucked flat?

You could have a bad seal in the primer bulb. You can pick up a whole new hose pretty cheaply. Replace the squeezed on clamps with good radiator hose clamps of the appropriate size. If that doesn't do it then it sounds like it may be time to check out and clean/rebuild the carb. Might have a stuck float or a piece of crud in it.

There is a single fuel line from the tank to the motor. No, the bulb doesn't get sucked flat, it just gets soft.
