Hey All, I have a 1990 Johnson (J120TLES) that made it's maiden voyage this weekend. It starts fine and idles fine however I can't seem to get more than 2k rpm out of it. I had to leave it on the mooring in Maine till next week but I was hoping to get some ideas of where to start looking next weekend. <br />I am running 50:1 in the tank (fresh) in addition to the VRO till I can see the tank level go down. I don't know if it dosn't have any guts due to the 25:1 mix it's getting or what the problem is. When at idle it runs nice and smooth and at low speed it sounds ok however, the exhaust is choking me with a fuel/oil smell. It seems to be getting plenty of fuel so where should I start looking? Coils? I know this is a little vauge of a question but I can't get back to it till next weekend. Any ideas would help me get started. Also, I did add a can of Seafoam to the fuel. Thanks, John

Should run fine just a little smokier. You may have lost spark or a clog in the carb. check it or if it just got rebuilt have the mechanic make it right.

I agree with fireman & would lean to crud in the carbs.

Thanks for reading my post fireman an solittle. I will install new coils, wires and a power pack. If that dosn't help it won't be a waste as they are 15 years old anyway. Then I'll chase possible fuel problems.
