I just purchased a new sailboat that has an existing Johnson 6hp Sail Master Sea Horse.

For some reason I can't lock the motor down to keep it from tilting. Obviously, for physics, this is especially the case in reverse.

I do have a photo of the motor if that might help anyone.

Thanks-

Re: Sail Master 6hp- tilt problem

Welcome aboard clearlake!

Raise the engine up and look for a thick piece of wire that goes from the lever on the front of the engine, the one thats supposed to lock and unlock the engine tilt, down to the reverse lock out link. Operate the lock out lever and make sure the lock out link is moving up and down with the lever.

Is the engine tilt bar in place? The lock out lever catches on the bar to prevent the engine from tilting.
