Picking up my 2005 18' center console on Wednesday and wondering if the 90hp Yamaha will be broken in. Is this common? If so, I won't have to pre-mix oil in gas tank for the first 10 hours.

Also, if i decide to get 4 stroke in future, will I have to get a new tank given the fact that oil was mixed in gas tank for the break-in period?

engine won't be broken in. should be brand new, with less than an hr on the it from rigging and testing. that's up to you. read the manual and talk to the dealer to determine recommended break-in procedures.

i doubt you need to worry about a new tank. in fact, i'm pretty certain. people have been repowering often with 4-strokes, and there not going around replacing their tanks. even if you add oil to the tank for break-in, you'll run plenty of fuel through that tank before you repower.

congrats on the new boat.
