year 6 hr johnson sea horse

i just was given a johnson 6 horsepower seahorse the number on the freeze plug isj3746892. any help would be appriciated. thanks

Hey Bob and welcome to iboats.<br /><br />The number you posted is a Serial No. Look on the port transom bracket for a tag. It'll have a model number on it. Post that and we can figure the year.

obj thank yo for the reply. i looked all over the motor and i could not find a tag. there is a number on the inside of the bracket 312032 with a D2 below it. i do not know if this will help. the carb kit i got was for 1969 thru 1979 and the pic of of the carb in parts book was the same carb and it worked great. another question what is the gas/oil ratio for these years. thanks

A survey of Iboats year querys reveals:<br />J3749033 1973<br />J3747993 1973<br />J3746892 Yours<br />J3693455 1972<br />J3626597 1972<br /><br />So most likely yours is a '73.<br /> '72 Picture<br />I couldn't find a picture of the '73, but the decals on the '73 say Johnson followed by a Sea Horse emblem, with two stripes - one above and one below the 'Johnson' and emblem which wrap all the way around to the other side.<br /><br />Hope this helps!
