I inherited a ski boat with an 1965 85 hp Johnson that has not been started in over 25 years. The motor only has around 200 hours on it. I need to know what the proper ratio of oil and gas mixture is and would appreciate any help. I would also be interested in knowing if there is something extra that I should do before I try to start it the first time.

Howdy, MZYH

Welcome to iboats. :)

Your engine uses a 50:1 mix. 87 Octane unleaded and TC-W3 rated outboard oil.

You should replace the water pump impeller before you try to start her after all those years.

You should also have a Service Manual. iboats sells aftermarket manuals here http://www.boatmotors.com/manuals.html
Or you can get the (recommended) OEM Manual from Ken Cook's website.

Good luck. :)
