Removing Lower Unit 84' Evinrude 90hp 4cyl

I am trying to replace my water pump and am not able to remember how to get the foot to drop out. I have an 84' Evinrude 90hp 4cyl engine. I thought you put the gear in reverse to drop it down but it does not seem to want to come out. Any help would be great.<br />Thanks,

Assuming you've removed all of the lower unit retaining bolts, did you remove the 3/8" hex head shift bolt from the linkage/shift rod under the bottom carburetor?

Thanks for the info. After 2 hours of sitting there that was all I had to do... WoW...I feel like an idiot.
