Re: lower unit V4 looper to x-flow ?

Hi,<br /> Although the cross-flow and the looper come in a v-4 configuration they truly are different engines. The driveshafts (depending on model years)can have different heights as well as the shift shaft. The diameter of the bullet section of the gearcase can also be a different size. This can have a big affect on how the powerhead is able to breath. If the driveshaft height is not the same size it can create a knocking sound in the powerhead. The production of the gearcases have changed over the years so it would be advisable to replace the gearcase with the same. Your local dealer may have used units at a good price. Hope the info helps.
