There should be a plate riveted to the transom clamp, Johnsonman. Failing that look for it stamped into a quarter size plug on the top of the block.<br /><br />If it is an 84, it will be 2 or 3 cylinders (don't remember if there was a 60 triple in '84) and the model number should read something like J60EL84, or close to that.<br /><br />Good luck.
