I have a 1977 Johnson that has a steering cable that had seized up ... I got a replacement for it but i am having some trouble getting the old steering cable out. I go to pull it out and it seems that it is getting stuck while the eye hole on the other side is not moving at all and is hard to move at all ... Should i force it through the pivot point for the motor or try to pull it through?

Re: Steering Cable Problems

HI<br /> Had the same problem once myself and I have seen it on another motor, some how the hole in the end of the cable where the steering arm goes through that links to the steering arm on the motor gets stretched a bit and makes it slightly larger than the tilt tube,I had to file the cable end around the hole area to get it to go back through, omly took about 10mins but had to be done.
