1963 40HP 'rude. Starts and runs great for the first 5-10 minutes, after which it starts to slow down. It will then run well at about 1/4 throttle, but die if I try to give it any more. Feels like fuel starvation..? Any ideas..?

It sounds like the tank is not venting

Check your fuel tank vent. When it starts to die, what happen if you pump the primer bulb? Or is this a pressurized tank? My memory is shot.

I tried the vent and everything seems fine. Pumping the bulb did not help.

Get a spray bottle & put some pre mix in it. Go for a run and when it starts to slow down squirt some fuel into the carb. If it picks up that confirms that you have a fuel supply problem. I would suspect crud in the carb & time for a rebuild.

ditto, carb is probably fouled. When rebuilding it, get a rebuild kit that includes a new plastic float. the old cork floats don't survive with todays fuels.
