135-150hp motor probably 2000 or newer

---------

Hi,

If You are looking for a second hand 4-stroke I think You should look closer at Suzuki DF140 since it came on the market 2002 and perhaps You can find that outboard second hand now. It is a very good outboard.

Also Honda BF 130 second hand could be an alternative but it is very heavy so it may be a problem depending what boat You have, I think it came on the market 1998.

135-150 hp 2-strokes second hand 2000 and newer - You should have many to choose from...

For example Yamaha regular 2-stroke 150 hp, HPDI 150 hp, V-max 150 hp HPDI, Mercury has some in that year-range and hp-range 2-stroke also You probably can find second hand, Evinrude also.

If You want new 135-150 hp outboard You have plenty of outboards to consider:

- Yamaha F150 (4-stroke)

- Yamaha ordinary 150 hp 2-stroke

- Yamaha 150 HPDI

- Yamaha 150 V-max HPDI

- Honda BF 150 (4-stroke)

- Honda BF 135 (4-stroke)

- Suzuki DF140/Johnson 140 (4-stroke)

- Mercury 135 Optimax DFI, 2-stroke, 3-star rated)

- Mercury 150 Optimax (DFI, 2-stroke, 2-star rated)

- Mercury 150 Classic 2-stroke

- Mercury 150 EFI

etc

Where to buy second hand or new outboards in Your country I do not know, but as mentioned iboats is a place to start looking I'm sure.

I have a Yamaha F115 4-stroke myself today but dream to some day perhaps use a Yamaha F150 4-stroke if I get a larger boat.

Personally I do not think it is so superimportant what outboard manufacturer You select, more important is probably that You have a good service center near You that You can trust. Most outboards in the year-range and hp-range You are looking for should be fine, really, if they have been serviced (second hand outboard).

Sure EFI 4-strokes and DFI 2-strokes are more fuel efficent (and are CARB 3- or 2-star rated) that regular 2-strokes are not so good at, but the EFI or DFI outboards are more expensive also.

But if You want to be more kind to the environment a CARB 2- or 3-star rated outboard is better.

I like Yamaha outboards because of good service, easy to get parts, and they are actually rather reliable. My Yamaha F115 performs well and I'm pleased with it. But I would probably also have been happy with a similar Suzuki/Johnson or Mercury 115 hp 4-stroke since there is a good service center in my town also for these (I had a Suzuki 2-stroke before by the way).
