Tech spins

Hello I have an 96 ocean pro 90 when i go to start it the needle on the tech spins, than when the it starts the needle stays at 1000. this tech also has the system check and the vro has also been disconnected the ? is there something wrong with the tech or the rectifier and by reversing the polarity had cause this to happen. the engine runs find just can't get a reading from the tech

Welcome aboard<br />Odds are reversing the polarity damaged the rectifier. With motor running, use a voltmeter to check for 13.5 + Volts at the battery terminals. Compare it to the voltage with motor off to see if it's charging. <br />Good luck
