Want to flush old gear oil from lower unit. what do I use?is kerosene O K Thanks dave

Not sure if anything other than gear oil is compatible. I would use LU oil, run it an hour or so, and dump that and replenish. What's the reason for flush??

Just got this lower from someone and the gear oil is black and thick.lokks like no oil change inquite a while. no water or shavings,

Maybe someone else can provide info on other than oil for a flush. You might wanna post year and hp so others can offer opinions. Good luck

Sounds like a plan.Almost any oil will work for a stationary 'flush',kero may hurt seals,running with the real thing can't hurt.Dark oil is just telling you change me.<br /><br />DHP
