Model number 9422R is a 1964 9.5hp Evinrude, not a 9.9hp Johnson Seahorse.

thank you very much !!!! do you know how far to turn out idle mix screw from alll the way in to?

I'm sure he does. :) <br />1 and 1/2 turns out from lightly seated is a good starting point, and then adjust it down (clockwise) until you get the best idle with the engine warm. You may have to turn it up (CCW) a bit if the engine hesitates when you hit the throttle in gear. You'll need to give the engine a few seconds to react every time you make an adjustment, so only turn the knob a bit at a time.<br />Neat engines those 9.5s. They're definitely unique compared to the other 2 cylinder OMCs of their day.<br />Welcome to Iboats, jerk stik!
