Hello! New to this forum. Need some advice: Looking at '89-'96 200-225 hp outboards. What problems/characteristics should I be aware of during those years in OMC vs YAMAHA. Thanks in advance!
This is what I hear. I have NO personal knowledge!!!<br /><br />There are a fair number of posts alluding to troubles with fuel injected motors during those years. My neibor, who knows and talks to everyone who fishes and has a boat, says Yamaha pistons are too thin and burn holes in them.<br /><br />Strictly gossip, but gossip gets started with the seed of experience.
In the 89'-96' era, It will be a matter of the amount of care given to either brand. Both reliable and dependable if they have received the proper care prior to you purchasing, whichever you choose.<br />I'm OMC at heart, but I will not say The J/E is "better" than the yammy.....Both good.
