Default Crest Pontoon motor mount

Aprox. 1974 Crest pontoon, with 40 hp Sea KingI need to replaced the wood , the outboard attaches to. Any thing I should take into consiteration here. It's about 2" thick.Have foundWhite Oak and Mahogany this thick.Thanks

I am not sure how you Pontoon is set up, I have a 2002 Crest. It uses a aluminum transom, that also holds a 24 gal fuel tank. You might want to contact your local Crest dealer or Crest directly to see if your could be modified to take the aluminum transon.

Thanks NPH, It has a handle that will adjust to 5different positions to raise or lower the motor.It will be simple enough to replaced the wood2" thick 14" wide'aprox 3ft long. However wondering which type of wood to use.

Perform a search at this page header on "Transom replacement" Most people are recommending White Oak, but that search will give a lot of information on this repair....Kev_alask***
