Hello, If you have it in dry storage and you don't want to put water on it and run it you can pull the plugs and spray some fogging oil into the cylinders. Pull the starter rope slowly (or spin the flywheel by hand) to let the oil coat the cylinder walls. If you have carbs that have drain plugs It would be a good idea to try to drain whatever fuel remains. Idealy you would put some sta-bil in your tank and run until the system has had a chance to draw in the mix. Then spray fogging oil in the carbs till she's smokin good and then cut the motor off. Then spray the cylinders as I said earlier. But if you don't want to run it at least fog the cylinders to prevent rust. You might have gummy carbs in the spring but the rust in the cylinders is what will hurt 'ya. Keep the unit vertical so the water can drain out of the lower unit. You do not need antifreeze in the block like an I/O motor. It's also a good idea to change the lower unit oil before storage. Water in the lube will rust the gears and could crack the housing in cold climates. Do a search here on iBoats for more tips and tricks, but that should cover what you asked. Good luck!
