Default evinrude paint

Hi FolksI have a 1972 evinrude 50hp lark.Looking to re paint it and IÂ’m having trouble finding the paint.Looks like it was gold.I have done several searches here and on yahoo with no luck.It looks like a Tempo 6944 would be the color but I canÂ’t find any one that has it.Im not sure if he knew what he was talking about but A guy told me that the gold was just the primer and the motor was actually blue.

This guy http://www.nymarine.ca/ has gold for 1967-71. I don't know if it's the same for 1972.

Unless you're on a restoration project, your local auto stores have very large selection of superb auto spray primers and enamels. I completely did my 1983 70 hp Johnson last year out of these spray cans (with careful masking) and it still looks great this year. To be sure, get a canvas cowling cover when not in use (about $25).
