Evinrude 150,, General Question

1st of all I appreciate any feedback. I just bought a 96 Skeeter with an Evinrude (95) 150 motor. I fired it up, it started and ran fine but no water came from the tell tale port after about 2 minutes of run time I shut it down. I was using a hose flusher on the motor. Is this normal? Does the motor have to heat up first? Should water always come from the tell tale port?
Thanks,
LGreen

If you don't know the maintenance history of the motor the by all means replace the water pump. Also check the pisser hose to see if its clogged.

Water should start comming out almost from the moment it is started. I would also change the thermostats particularly if a salt water motor.
