Hello,

how would you estimate the age of the outboarder in this picture:

http://i19.ebayimg.com/02/i/02/cc/69/bf_1.JPG

It is said to be a short transom.

I wonder if this is right, the 50hps are long transom ones as far I can remember.

Greetings from Germany

Nordy

Re: Questions to old Johnson 50hp

Looks short to me Nordy. They did make them in 15" and 20" lengths. Age, looks later than 85', probably in the early 90's is bout all I can tell you. Did they post the model number of the engine? With that, we can tell.

you need to get the serial number for an accurate
vintage on this motor.
however it looks to me to be late 1980's or early
1990's.
believe all these motors were 20" shaft length.

Hello,

thanks for your answers.

It's a 85-year model.

Is it basically the same engine manufactured by Bombardier these days ?

The guy selling it told me, this engine was delivered in three power versions, 40, 50 and 60 hp once.
40 and 50 is clear, but 60 I never heard.

Nordy
