Default Price Check on Aisle 3! Cobalt 222 pricing

Hi There,

First time poster here. Very excited to have found a boat I'm very interested in, and sent a deposit to hold.

Am to go inspect a 2007 Cobalt 222, with the 8.1 next week. Dealer has it on consignment, a one-owner boat, bimini top, adjustable seats, Captain's Call, trailer, and as mentioned the 496 engine (Mercruiser). It has 18 (eighteen!) hours, and via the trusted dealer he says "It still smells new. Unblemished."

Do you fine folks care to take a stab at what you feel this boat is worth? I've gone to boattrader, ebay, NADA, and am still all over the place. ANY help or insight would be very appreciated.

Haven't looked in awile but if it's on a tandem trailer I'm guessing around $50K.

You're making me feel MUCH better! Thanks. It is indeed on a tandem trailer, aluminum, with disc brakes. I should be in the boat for about $44k if it checks out.

I sold my 2005, 226 with the 496 mag on a nice tandem trailer in 2007 for $49k. $44K sounds like a smoken deal.

Thanks Mike. I'm heading to the boat on Wednesday (3 hour drive) to inspect/water test. Getting kind of excited!

Did you replace your 226 with another Cobalt?

Yes, I bought a used 2005, 250 with the 496 Mag two seasons ago. It had 26hrs. on it when I test drove it. It took me almost a year to find the one I wanted and had it shipped from California to St. Louis. Sounds like your purchase is a no braininer with that low of hours.

Besides the test drive I had the ECM checked-out to make sure the hours we're true and that it hadn't had any "trouble" codes logged.

If it all works out I'm sure your gonna love that "new" Cobalt. My 226 ran 63 mph on GPS with the CC open but 99% of the time it ran at about 28-32 mph, go figure.....

Wow, you ARE a Cobalt fan! Oddly, this 496Mag is not shown as a 222 option in the new catalog, nor at my local dealer. Special order? Discontinued? Not sure.

If it'll break 60, I'll be floored.

I understand the warranty CAN be transferred to me, so hopefully the 'trouble' codes are not only traceable, but correctable under warranty.
Right? Thanks.

The warrenty transfer shouldn't cost more that $75 and any Cobalt dealer can do it for you. It should be free in your case buying used from a Cobalt dealer.

Only issue I've had was a fouled spark plug and guess what; not covered under warrenty! $120 worth of plugs. Besides that all three I've owned have been trouble free. They do have a great warrenty going up to five years after purchase, you're in good shape there.

The 496 is easy to winterize too.

It WILL go 60+.

Good Luck and keep us posted.

It will do 60+.

Mine's an '06 226 with the 496 Mag duo-prop. With less than ideal conditions, I see ~63. The 222 is close enough in size/ shape/ weight to the 226 that I'm sure it will pass 60.

At some point I plan to go out on the river alone with like 1/4 gas tank, leave the bimini top at home, with the bow cover on for aerodynamics, and head DOWN river ... and see what it'll do! I'm guessing around 66.

My guess is 63.5 mph on GPS. Run with the wind in a light chop and lean forward, you'll hit 64.
