Default New to 4 winns and boating

I just bought a 86 horizion 195. When I got it most of the guages were dead, I replaced them all and the sending unit is dead to, waiting for a new one to come in. I am wondering how many gallons the gas tank holds? I have searched the 4winns sight and the past manuals do not have the fluid levels in it. Any help would be great!

I just bought a 1986 4 Winns(Freedom) with a 140 hp Mercruiser Alpha One. My manual does not provide the info either. All I can say is my gauge was showing 1/2 and I added 10 gallons which moved gauge to full. So I'm guessing it holds between 20..18 gallons.
If you find the correct info.....

You didn't find this boat in Southeast Michigan did you? I was looking at a 86 Horizon 195 and it also had mostly dead gauges!

I really liked that boat...

That's funny...what are the odds?

Yeah...that was (is) a great boat...we really wanted to get it, and I had called to make an offer...got the machine...and later find out it was sold. The only thing that made me hesitate about this one was that the deck seemed pretty bad...

We liked that boat so much, I took to scouring ebay and craigslist to find another H195!! Considering going to Milwaukee for a 1985!!

Any luck with the gauges? Please keep us updated!

I had to replace all the gauges, until I find a set that I really like and is worth updating the dash with I went with auto Zones sunpro gauges made by snapon. The floor has a couple spots that need some attention but for the most part its all solid. I would tear into it this winter but a deployment looms over my head in October, so I got it cleaned up and ready to play in. Once I get back and the season is over I will be giving it a little make over on the interior and go back through the mechanical stuff fixing what needs it or updating/upgrading components that need it.

Good luck with your search!

Joekuhl79 Thanks for the links but I keep getting 404 not found error. That is great to know it holds 27 gallons now.

Hmmm...odd things are going on with their website! Those links were actually to .pdf's of pages from their 1986 sales brochure, and had pictures of the boat and some specs on it..that's where I got the 27 gallon number...

Insanity...their website seems temperamental! Those links above will take you to the pages for your boat...I believe that was the only two pages that really had anything...but follow the link below and that takes you to the web page with the list of all the brochures...different years, models, etc.

Have you got that hatch support fixed yet? I got poked in the head with that...someone could get an eye poked out!

Thanks again and I just pulled that out and chucked it. The one side holds it up just fine.

I found out that the points and timeing was off by 6 degrees. That was the cause of high idle issues I was having and probably the issues with it not planing out with it loaded down. Its too bad I wont get to see how she runs until I get back from Iraq. Maybe I can get R&R during the summer and go play some.
