Compared to my boat and what I paid for it, you stole it!

And welcome to iboats!

NYBo - Thanks for the reply - I am a complete greenhorn when it comes to owning a boat. I have always been "one of those guys" who had friends w/boats.

I am very excited about finding this site - it looks like it should be a HUGE help for me!

Well - I picked up the boat this weekend - I guess I am a lucky one all the way around.

I bought the boat site unseen. (other than pictures.)

When I arrived, I was given all service records dating back to 1999. Every year was done by the same boat marina.

It had been winterized in Nov 08' and hadn't been started since.
The battery was not charged for a year, I hooked it up and it cranked. After charging the battery for about an hour, I turned the key and it fired up. We took it out on the lake for about 2 hours - by the end it was running VERY well, and was pushing just over 40mph with 3 guys in it.

The ONLY major problem was the ski locker cover was rotting - I removed it, pulled the carpet off, and replaced it with a piece of treated plywood (I sealed it, and painted it white before putting it all together)

Here are a couple of "issues" I have noticed - and to be honest, they might not even be issues.

1. The temp gauge doesn't work - either that or the engine never got above 100 deg - (the water temp was about 60 - and right after I got off the water I touched the engine, and it was not hot at all)

2. The speedometer doesn't work (The only reason I know it was pushing a hair over 40mph was because I had a friend in another boat beside me.)

3. The aerator doesn't seem to work.

4. The horn only works after I tap on the horn - I am assuming I can replace it fairly quickly.

SO - does anyone have any input on these items? I appreciate it!
