So after reading the consensus of this review, it seems to be that the Bayliner 175 is the fastest in it's class, one of the best handling in rough water . . . . and . . . the least expensive?
Not to mention, the most available interior room (I can't think of another 18' or smaller with more cockpit space).
I think we may be seeing quite a few of this model being purchased especially in light of the current fuel prices.
Fuel economy is the big reason I went with the 17.5' with the 3.0L instead of the 18' with the 4.3L. It didn't hurt that I got more interior room at the same time since it doesn't have the sundeck out back.

Space was the number one reason I went with my 175. Then price. Now that I have the space, a swim-platform is next to give me the sun-deck/play area and I still get to keep my space.
Does yours have the swim platform in the pics or is yours different? The rear of mine looks just like the Bayliner 175 in the pics except my grab handle is metal and shiny.

As far as I know there is not an OEM swimplatform for the 175, I am going to buy my through www.swimplatforms.com They make custom ones for most boats. They are a bit pricey but I have heard nothingbut good things.
I am considering purchasing this boat as my first new family boat. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the best price? Even though the MSRP is less than $13,000 the dealers I have been to have it for much more including freight charges, dealer service charges, etc. Also, the ones I have looked at have the bimini and possibly some other add-ons. The best price I have had offered so far is $15,969 out the door -- this includes the bimini, stereo package, coast guard kit, all dealer charges, state tax, county tax, and title and registration. Does that sound fair? Or, is that still quite a bit over the basic MSRP?
Also, how do you guys think this boat compares to the Tahoe Q4 SS? My wife likes the way the Tahoe looks much better, but the out the door price on the Tahoe is about $3,000 more than the 175 Bayliner.
I have been doing a lot of reading and comparing myself, mostly between 3 boats, Bayliner 175, Glastron 175 and Tahoe Q4. From reading and talking to people, the Tahoe has a rep for being a lesser quality boat than the other two. When I purchase it will be the Bayliner 175 as a first new boat. Hope that helps.
I was interested in this boat for the price and its new MSRP $11,620
Ive had bayliner send me information on there new boats. Does not say if its 2008 or 2009? I would like more information on exterior colors? Do they offer black, red, blue like 08s or just white. I do prefer the 09 white 175 picture i found whites marine in WY.

First, I want to say that I recently came accross a real gem. A 2001 Bayliner Capri 175 that looks like it just came out of the showroom. She's been stored inside for the past 4 years and before that got very little use. So little use in fact that I had to replace the steering cable because it dried up. This boat was a few years before the redesign and drop in price to the $9999.00 price. Aside from the hinged cover it is what the 09 175 seems to be returning to. It has the APS hull which they went away from with the economy model. If anyone has any comments or experiences with this boat I'd love to hear it. Considering the coins that I left in my wallet by finding this boat, it's going to be hard to wipe the smile off my face. Being recently recertified as single and an 11-year-old girl this boat fits me real well.
Second, I asked about a swim platform for this boat, and the dealer said the 175s were not built (reinforced) to handle a platform, and that the outdrive was an issue when raised. If anyone else is looking into this I am very interested in what you find out. Thanks for the link for SPs, I see that they offer one, so I am very interested!

I have this very same boat except it is a 2008 model. The only difference is I chose the lounge seat option on the driver's side because I like to be able to sit on top of the seat so that I have a better view of the surroundings while driving. I actually just got back from the lake with mine about 3 hours ago. I paid $14609 out the door for my 2008 back in June. With me and another passenger, 9 fishing reels, a full tank of gas, 8 life jackets, a 18 pound anchor, battery jump box, 2 huge tackle boxes and a huge cooler on a some chop into the wind we got the boat to 49 on the speedo. This is only the 5 th time I have taken it out and am still getting used to it. With 5 people in the boat I have gotten it to 47 on the speedo on some chop. This boat is basic but it is rock solid. It jumps on plane and will pull skiers and tubes all day long. It has the same exact hull as a Searay and I think it handles pretty well in rougher water for only 17.5 feet long. I have had it out when I storm blew in that had 50 mph winds and we went through some large waves but I never felt unsafe in it. On july 4 th we ran it all day long with 8 people in the boat and were still hitting low 40's in very rough chop. If you are on the fence about whether to buy this boat, you will not regret it. Bayliner also has great resale. My previous bayliner was a 1988 model and I sold it for $3400 back in 2007.

Hey I have a basic question. Where do you put the anchor? I mean the 175 doesn't have an anchor point forward of the boat?
I purchased a 2009 Bayliner 175 a week ago as my first boat. So far, I have loved playing on the lake with my new boat and it is perfect for a begginer like myself. Without a doubt, I would suggest this boat to anyone who is looking to get out on the water at a reasonable price.
