Choke Housing Vented?

My choke has the cover plate with a bimetallic coil on the inside. It has the copper riser tube that lets exhaust into the choke housing.

Is the choke housing supposed to be vented? If so, where is the vent? I think mine might be plugged.

(possibly two problems; choke acting weird, engine starting poorly; might be same problem)

Thanks!

Re: Choke Housing Vented?

I have no idea of your exact setup yet the chock housing isn't "vented" yet rather should have a small vacuum source that pulls the hot air into it. The tube/riser that comes up from your exhaust is not typically pulling exhaust gases - rather just a hot air source etc.

Look for a small vacuum hole within the housing.

The "vent" is in the part that bolts to the carb. There is a gasket and one or 2 screws that hold the choke housing to the carb body. The carb vacuum pulls the heated air through the housing and past the spring.

Thanks, found it, the lower left hole. Looks like my gasket was shot.
