Al Bee can you tell me what the length of your fifth wheel is?
I am looking to get into a similiar set-up and have a 16' classic Glastron Carlson and am currently looking at older Ford Diesel extended cabs.
Do you know what weight fifth wheel would require a dually?
I would rather not have a dually but would like to investigate this before I buy a truck so I know what to look for.

Tubingluvr, My fifth wheel length is 27' 2". Empty the trailer is 6890lbs, max loaded is 9700lbs. I searched out this trailer for a year and a half due to the fact that it is light (it has a 13ft slide), the pin weight is light (bath is in the rear) and is a short fifth wheel with bunks. Dually's basically offer stability. A dually will usually eat up some of the payload of a 1 Ton truck. If I was a full timer and had a 35ft fifth wheel (no boat), I would have a dually, purly for the stability. A good set of properly inflated tires will work just as well for day to day and weekenders.
A tip tho, buy the longest wheelbase you can, ie 4dr longbox instead of a extended cab short box. A long wheelbase will not let the trailer push the truck around, the truck will actually command the trailer. AND BUY A DIESEL! LOL I towed with a gasser before this, and if I knew then, what I know now, I would have bought a diesel a very long time ago.

I use my 1993 4wd Bronco, it tows my 16'7" Trihull great around town, but definitely struggles at freeway speed... The truck is lifted, with bigger tires, and it's not geared down at all, so I think that's why.

Having a lifted 4x4 is great for using not-so-nice ramps.

Towing with my 03 Toyota Tundra 4wd is a breeze! I have a 26ft 4,000 pound travel trailer, a 1970 16ft Mirrocraft with a homemade trailer and a 1988 Mercury 20hp on it,as well as a 1989 14ft Smokercraft with a Johnson 4hp Deluxe on it. When I tow the boats I hardly know their there.

I've got an 04 quad cab ram, but hell you've got a good engine in that car, she can handle it. Props to you for getting that boat out there, at the end of the day what matters is that you had a good time on the water.

2006 Pontiac Torrent tows my "2000 Tracker Pro Deep V 16" well enough.
Photo taken on the way back from this years vacation to northern Wisconsin.
It was a 700 mile round trip.

I tow a 1988 Sea Ray Seville 19 foot bow rider outboard with a 98 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer. 5.4 ltr, 4X4 with 129,000 miles. Does a great job pulling and is a very comfortable ride.

1990 Maxum 2400 SCR w/ 7.4L and Bravo 1

Towed with our 2003 Chevy Tahoe Z71 LT w/ 5.3 Litre Vortec V8.

Does a great job. Works a little up long pulls, but otherwise does fine... Looks good doing it as well!

While in college, I pulled a 14ft sea nymph with a 4cylinder honda accord. It did the job but got a lot of looks. Now I pull my 17ft smokercraft with a 2004 Nissan Titan 4x4.
