I see a lot of ads on Craigslist from people that want to "rent" a boat for a weekend. I can not imagine a boat owner doing this but I guess it must happen because I still see the ads.

Would you even consider renting your boat to a stranger?

Rent it to a stranger: Ahell NO

Re: Would you rent your boat for a weekend?

NO!!

When I was selling my last boat on craigslist someone contacted me and asked if they could rent it for the day. Make sure it worked for the family and that they were happy with it. If they liked it and wanted to buy it then the rental price could go against the purchase amount.

I replied saying i would be happy to go to the river and allow 2 passengers to do a test ride with me but that was it.

Never heard back from the guy.

Not for 5 seconds .. and that's even if I knew the person who wanted to rent it, never mind some person from Craigslist!

To echo the above "NO"

I don't think you needed the other two options on the poll.

Now maybe if you had put 'would you rent your boat out or your wife'.......

My friends, neighbors, and relatives are welcome to any of my posessions with the absolute exception of three:

1. My lady
2. My motorcycle
3. My boat

. . .and I do mean ABSOLUTE. And my boat is certainly nothing fancy! I can't even imagine what you folks with beautiful 26' Christ Craft rigs have to say about it!

I'd rent my 12' aluminum(minus the Minn Kota) and oars for the right price.:D

Anything with an outboard or I/O(or a boat that is in nice condition/restored) I would never rent and agree with you fellas 100%.

My motor is too temperamental to lend to anyone. I wish it wasn't so because I would love for my dad to be able to use the boat without me. Especially since he has paid for some of the work on it.

Re: Would you rent your boat for a weekend?

most def not. People just dont have the same respect for your stuff as you do. Boats are too expensive to fix. They do rent them up in lake george but it like 100 bucks for 2 hours with a credit card and the boat gets checked over after your dont. But I would never ever rent mine out.:p

Re: Would you rent your boat for a weekend?

Ummmm.... considering all the work that goes into making our boats how we like them... the only thing I would have faith and trust in is the fact that some jackball would mess it all up.... and then say, "Uhhhh... I dunno.... derrrr... I think it was like that.... it didn't come with the plug in it..... thought that was fine." So I vote "No." (Save for my dad and one of my friends, both of whom are really close to me and have a lot of experience).

Maybe it's just the Salesman in me but I never say never when it comes to money. Everything is for sale or rent if the price is right. ;)

In this case $5K a day plus an insurance policy with me as the benefactor would go long way toward persuading me to do it.

I had this talk with a friend that asked if he could rent mine. I said sure,... There will be a cash deposit of $30k + $500 per day. Must be returned clean and with a full tank... :D
