I put a 1970 85 Hp Evinrude on my 1996 pro18 Bass Tracker, It acts like the prop is slipping before it plains out, I put new prop on and still does the same thing someone told me the motor was not in the water enough but it is low as it will go,Could it be to low or high & could it be catching air or bubbles? I would appreciate very much if someone could help me, It does fine when it's on plain. THANKS

Is it power trim and tilt ??
Have you moved it in a hole or 2 if it is not power trim ??
Take a photo and post it for all to give an opinion.
Anti Cavitation plate should be even to 2 inches above bottom of hull. This is just a rule of thumb though as varying hulls and loads will alter it.

You will have to experiment with your boat, motor set-up. A cupped prop will help with the cavitation

Re: Motor too high or too low

I got my motor down about 1/2 an inch,Really didn't think that would help,But
that fixed my problem,I took it to the Lake yesterday and it didn't spin out one
time,I thank you very much for your reply & help.
