I recently bought a project boat with a 1988 70hp 2 stroke Merc. The guy I bought it from said it was running great. It sat for several months and when he tried to fire it up to sell i it, it wouldn't crank. It then set for a week or so and fired up but was missing. It fired up the day I looked at it and the next day when I got it home, but was still missing. Now it won't fire again. It will try to turn over, but won't get running. It has new spark plugs and fuel line. I checked for spark between the three coils and plugs, no spark on all three... I also checked kill switch and cleaned/tightened terminals. Where do I go from here and what does it sound like might be the problem? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum!!:):)
Is the battery you are using fully charged, if not it needs to be in order to get it to fire. Also take off and clean all connections including the starter connections. Even if they look clean, clean them with emery cloth.
