Re: 1967 Johnson 6HP CD24 Spark Plug Wires
Some of the auto parts stores sell spark plug wires with the spark plug boot assembly pre-installed. They are available individually and come in various lengths. I just replaced the wires in my 1972 Johnson 65hp with a set of these and it cost me all of ten bucks.
I hate the ones that come with OMC coils because you have to assemble the spring clip and spark plug boot, making sure that the bit of wire that you have bared to make contact with the spring clip, stays in place. Frankly, this just seems lazy and cheap on the part of OMC/Bombardier to me. The premade units are much easier and are pretty foolproof - just screw them onto the post in the coil and you are done. If the coils are mounted on the side of the powerhead (yours aren't), a little dab of silicon around the wire, at the socket in the coil, isn't a bad idea.
