2004 5hp mercury do I mix oil with gas???

2004 5hp mercury bought this on ebay, They said it was a 4 stroke,It has an internal gas tank,that is half full of oil only?
And also has a external gas tank and hose.They said I would not need to mix the gas and oil,Because it was a 4 stroke.
I have looked on the net for this
model # 4m9xm.1021c0 and serial # 0t720926
Do I need to mix oil & gas Is this a 2 or 4 stroke????
The closest thing to it was a 5hp portable 2 stroke.Any Help appreciated,Thanks

Its a oil tank, not gas..

Give us a model number...maybe I've been at this too long, but a 2 and 4 stroke are so obvious to me...ya need a manual too...

Has large white plastic tank on engine, filled 1/2 full with oil???filler cap pretrudes thur cover.Thanks

You have a two-stroke engine. The plastic tank on the engine contains TCW3 rated two-cycle oil. The engine is oil injected meaning you don't have to mix oil with the gas. That's done automatically by the oil injection system. You need to keep that tank filled to avoid ruining the engine. Now then -- if the engine was listed as a 4-stroke, you have a fraudulent ad and I would contact both E-bay and the seller. There is a significant difference in price between the two engines. In fact in some areas you may not be able to use a carbed two-stroke as some lakes are 4-stroke or EFI only. You've been had.

Thanks,Yes the 2 lakes I want to fish.Diamond Valley and Lake Skinner,they require 2001 with
the low emmission 3 stars ect.And 4 strokes.
too bad I really like this little motor its only 42 lbs.I'm goning on 70 so I need
A lite motor. I only Paid $400 = $60.00 shiping. If I wasn't on fixed income,
I think I would keep it.
I was hoping being a 2004 it might pass the low emissions for calif. The sticker inside says (passed 2004 emission standards
for si marine) ???

All of that is great -- except you were not sold what was advertised. Go back to E-bay and the seller for falsifying an auction. Unless of course you want to keep the engine. In this case, I suspect the seller didn't have a clue what he had either but that's no excuse. He advertised something he didn't have. That's an issue E-bay does not like.
