How do I adjust my manual tilt for best performance?

How do I find the best tilt setting on a 30hp 2-stroke outboard that has manual tilt?

The outboard is a 1993 Evinrude 30hp short shaft 2-stroke...

Thanks,

trial and error is the only true way to get the best possible setting for manual trim .
On most boats I have owned with manual trim ,the center or next position down (toward transom) usually works best for me. You are trying to achieve a happy medium between getting on plane quickly and obtaining a decent speed .

Trial and error is the correct answer in my opinion. When setting it up though, make certain that you have your "usual" load on board or you could have issues when you actually do.
Good Luck and let us all know. BTW what boat do you have ??

I agree with everything said so far......you have to pick a hole, run it and see if it needs adjusting. The Load makes a huge difference. With a normal load, I have mine set at the second hole out from the lowest. When by myself I have to put it in the lowest hole instead or else I will porpoise like crazy.
