Oh knowkedgable ones:


I'm trying to put a tach on my old (66) sea king 35hp. I believe the marina tech told me I needed to know how many electrical poles or pickups there are on the motor. Can any of you answer this for me?

I thought we allready covered this.Your motor is a Chrysler.My aftermarket service manual says all 35s are magneto equipped.There are no poles no alternator . Tachs are no longer made for that type motor.The tiny tach will work.They use pulses from a plug wire.If you go to the tinytach site you can figure out what type you need for your motor.The tach for your motor will fit any 2 cylinder 2 stroke.
About $40 and very easy install.The other allternative is watch ebay for a used tach.
