Let's see some pics! Congrats on your purchase. I bought a project boat about a month ago. I did get to get it out on the water once before I started tearing into it. It will be a long winter but I have lots of work to do.
I recently put a deposit on a 16' starcraft and I will be picking up the boat in a week or so...I feel ya...got a great deal on it but will be a long winter looking forward to being on the water
I'm hoping for a few warm days in november so I can see how she handles prior to my restoration...but not likely to happen.
I just picked up a nice little 17' Ranger for fishing, and my 7 yr old is all into it. Try explaining why we can't fish and it has to go into storage to a little guy like that. He spent a lot of time in the garage with his little Spongebob pole, in the boat, telling me about all the fish he was going to catch with it while I changed the LU lube, etc.
Now he spends his time thumbing through my 'In Fisherman' magazines telling me which lures we have to go buy... Chip off the ole' block.
Forecast for Sunday in Concord is sunny with a high of 57... I'd have to get it out on the water one time before tucking it up and the water turns as hard as my boat. :o)
BTW forgot to add congrats on getting the boat!!!! Seriously, even if you just putter around bundled up... hit the water for an hour Sunday.
thanks for sharing some of your pain and words of hope for better weather because this is tough for me, especially when you get those freak 65-70 degree days, on the weekend and the boat is put to sleep. huh
I'm right there with you! I just bought my boat a few weeks ago and part of the deal was being shrink wrapped and stored on the dealer's lot...and then prepped and ready when i pick it up in April.
Haaaaaaard to wait, that's for sure. I spend hours on this forum every day, living vicariously through others.
we bought our first boat and we have to winterize it : ( .. this will be a long winter.
Winterizing an outboard is a breeze. I bet you could still get in a day or so on a lake over in NH. Howdy neighbor!!

Obviously you are not aware of lovely New England weather...... maybe 50 today and sunny and a foot of snow and below zero by midnight....... Where are you located?

the urge to place the boat in water is so bad.... one of my neighbors has a decent size pond on his propery adjacent to his home... i thought i would trailer the boat there, quietly drop it in the pond, without asking, crank her up and do donuts for couple of hours ( of course i would have officially lost my mind at that point ) i wonder what is first thought would be when he looked out his window and seen this !!

That is funny!
