Chris Craft Lancer hull speed

Does anyone here have experience with where the sweet spot is with a '70 19ft lancer as far as horsepower is concerned? It has the Volvo 270 outdrive. I'm not interested in putting a monster motor in the boat and fixing things that break all the time, just want to get an idea of whether to bump up the horsepower a little (200hp now) to get optimum speed/handling from this hull. Anyone having experience with this hull will be forever in my debt! Thanks
