Default 1997 U-17

Has anyone ever had any experience with one of these? I'm curious what they're like in a 2' chop at speed and what the fit and finish is like. Thanks.

These boats are an amazing bit of engineering. They are well built, the interior is robust, and they move. As far as a 2'chop goes, it would have between little and no effect. With any performance V bottom, there are positives and negatives. If you don't know what a chine walk is, you probably will once you push it through 60mph. To control a chine walk, jab counter steer from centre to left only if running a single prop. If you go past centre to the right, I hope for your sake you have your hand on the throttle as things will really get exciting. This is a trait of several v bottom boats such as Donzi, Checkmate, Baja, Hydro Stream, Charger, and many many more.
The benefits of the ride of a 24 degree deep V is worth the learning curve. Use your head, be safe, and have fun, and be ready to answer questions all of the time as people love the look of these boats, and you will feel darn good driving one.
These photos are taken in Georgian Bay Canada in about 3-4' waves.
Ours has a Vortec V6 with an Edelbrock mid rise aluminum manifold, and a 2bbl
carb. It turns a 21" SS prop and the engine is reving (non calibarated tach) at around 4600rpm. With a 1.6:1 gear ratio it is running approx 54 mph. It indicates 57. It never chine walks at these speeds.
