Default Upper Helm Chair

I recently purchased a 1994 390 Carver CMY. She is a beauty too; very well taken care of--except for the capatin's chair at the upper helm. The padded armrests and elbow pads are very ripped. The chair and it's padding are salvagable, but at a cost. I have contacted one of the local marine canvas/covering companies and have been quoted a price to recover the chair close to what I think a new chair would cost.

Should I contact Carver or do any of you have any suggestions on where to find a replacement chair?

Congratulations on your new boat! You're going to love her.
I have the same model and vintage as yours.

My helm chair is still in excellent condition, albeit my bridge is covered so probably less damage from the sun.

I have had upholstery work done by "marine" upholsterers and they charge you through the teeth. I would suggest you try and find a company that is not so specialized. I wouldn't imagine it would cost you more that a couple hundred at the most to have it recovered. If you can find a new chair I'm sure it would cost a lot more than that.

Happy boating!

not sure if the boat that I have has the part that you need but I'm demolishing the boat and if you see any parts that you need pay my time to remove and ship and the parts are yours free

As an upholstery shop owner, I can tell you that any upholstery shop worth their salt will be able to recover that seat. I have a 2001 Voyager, and I would cover the helm chair (arms rests and all) with a top quality marine vinyl--the correct color is Allante White--for $250.00.

Shop around.
