looking to trade up from my 24 bowrider (Chaparral). I found a 2001 293, and have a few questions:

missing a gen set (stolen) - how much $ to install a new gen set?

The boat is advertised as an "in shore day tripper", but would like to travel parts of NE coast, and do a few overnights. Is this boat ok on open ocean?

what is your overall opinion of a Cobalt 293. I plan to use it most for day trip in calmer waters, but would like to know that it will be sufficient for a 60 mile day trip along coat say... boston to martha's vineyard

We recently acquired a 293 in June and are mostly happy with the ride. I say "mostly" simply because we came from a classic 1979 33' Cigarette with a 24* hull to the Cobalt with a 20* hull. Approximately the same weight, but the ride is VERY different. We boat on and inland lake (Lake of the Ozarks), but can easily see 2-3' waves generated by boat traffic on any given weekend.

The 293 would be a great candidate for your type of day trips. Adding the genset would make it even better. Sorry, I have no idea as to replacement cost. It would greatly depend on how much wiring & circuit panels they scavenged out. Our genset is a 4kw Kohler.
