Javsam...

Thanks for posting those pictures. That looks like a very straight RB. I believe '56 was the first year for that boat. The Model R had the rear seat set forward while the RB was set up for tiller operation. Have you decided on power for the RB? Up to the rated 16hp would be quite a ride....

I thought Alpex bought Alumacraft in the early 60's? Clearly by 1963 they were together.

Anyway, that trailer is in great shape, too. I like the operation of that...pretty thoughtful with the breakaway feature. Lot's better than asking the boss to come out and help load the darn things.

Both are great finds...

javsam...

I keep coming back to look at this post because I think that boat is the best built 12 footer ever and then you also have that trailer!

To show a model R. The R and RB 12 footers are true classics.

Can you post a close up of the original decals? I assume they are the earlier blue script on white decal as opposed to the later blue and red. I'd like to reproduce them for my 55. Are they actually an adhesive decal?

FYI the trailer is probably from the 1970s. The giveaway is that the dealer tag has the NE Minneapolis zipcode on it. Zipcodes in the US didn't start appearing in general use until around 1970, although the post office used them internally much earlier. The 5 digit zipcode was developed around 1967 for bulk mail. Prior to that it was 2 or 3 digits.

Talking Re: 1956 Alumacraft RB with factory trailer

I contacted Alumacraft about the year of the trailer and they did confirm that the trailer was sold by Alumacraft during the 50's.The AC700 from the tag was the part number to order the trailer from Alumcraft. The trailers were actually made by Tee-nee trailers of Ohio.
