Default KW 186dc drains let in water

I took my 186dc out yesterday for the first time and I have some questions. WHen I stand in the stern water comes in the cockpit drains and gets anything in the back of the boat wet. Is there any way to plug up these drains and has anyone else noted this? I have a honda 135hp on this boat and note that the swim platform is under water when I am in the stern of the boat. Also, the steering seems a bit heavy is there any way to adjust it. Besides these anoyances the boat is really nice and the honda makes for the fastest boat I have ever been on.

is this a new 186? My 2005 has simulaer symptoms, maybe a half inch of water. I suspect leaky scuppers. I am wondering if this is consistant with a new boat.

I had a 186DC for a while and never had a problem with water in the boat.Sounds to me like a bad scupper or something holding it open (leaves). Also
the swim platform should set above the water. It sounds like some excess weight in the stern. The plug is in, right?

First off, congrats on your boat! I've enjoyed the heck out of mine.

I have a 2005 w/ yammi f150, 60 gal tank and dual batts in the aft lockers. If it's full of fuel I get a little (maybe 1 inch or less) when I go to the rear, or have the bait well full. Being in Florida, having wet feet is no issue. You can check your flappers on the outside of the transom, and make sure they are flexible and clean. If it is a real problem, you can install ball scuppers which some people say help a lot.

Here is a thread about your boat which might be interesting to you:

Ball Scuppers:

I also installed smart tabs and would recommend them.

I just noticed your march post about the leaking scuppers. I purchased a 2006 186dc jan 09 with the 135honda. I noticed similar water in the stern of the boat which did not impress my boating partner (wife) which is one of the reasons I bought a dual console. Needing to keep her happy I first replaced the one way flapper valve and then moved on to plan B. I cut the thick white drainage tubes and stopped them up with a pvc end cap and secured it with pvc glue and a circle clamp. THe end from the scupper I left open into the bilge and my pump handles any overflow. It was very hard to get around the outboard motor and do this but I was finally able to get it done. I had to remove the white plastic tube from the through hull fitting to get the plug to fit and secure it with the glue and clamp. THe whole thing makes me nervous as if it let go I know the boat could sink but I had to do something as the water from the scuppers was getting everything in the cockpit wet. I check the fix everytime I put the boat in the water and my wife is again happy with this very well designed and built boat. I don't completely understand their scupper design which is not really a self bailing hull but I don't use the boat in the ocean except for very calm days.
