you sure its out of wac? what is it doing when it runs? Does it bog down and die after running at full throttle for a few seconds?

i'm very sure i'm not in spec for the proper adjustments. it starts great, the choke only needs to be 1/2 way up or all the way up when starting. it runs fine in idle, maybe a tad hi, but acceptable. when the choke is turned off it stills runs fine, with little to no change in engine speed. when we put it in gear it runs nice but theres not much change in low range speeds. middle idle speeds are okay but lack speed, but in top wide open hi speeds it runs okay for about 30 seconds and moves along speedy then starts to cuts out and will stall if i don't pull back on the throttle asap. then i'll run it at 3/4 throttle it's smooth but still not up to potiential speed in my opinion, but will run with no problems.

Choke setting messed up? There isn't one. Your engine uses an enrichener. Turn the mixture screws in (clockwise) and seat them lightly. Turn back out 1-1/4 turn. With the engine in the water -- not on muffs -- set the idle speed screw to specified idle rpm. Then turn the first mixture screw in until the engine begins to bog. Note that position. Turn it out until the engine picks up again and continue turning it out until it bogs again. Note that setting. Then turn the screw in (somewhere between the two bog points) for best idle. Reset idle rpm again. Repeat this process for the other carb(s). Be patient, pay attention, and be methodical. There is no mystery to this. But unless all other engine systems (fuel, spark, timing, link&sync) are proper all the twiddling with carb adjustments won't solve the issues.

silvertip, an enrichener, good to know. i'm brand new at this. i'll give it a try, but i'm still wary of what i'm doing.

kergoat, that diagram will get me all straightened out! if i follow from step 1 thru the end. only wish i spoke french. is there anyway you could convert the file, so i can check all the settings?
