Default pop up cleats?

The pop up cleats on my Regal Bow Rider aren't reliable. Some don't pop up easily and some don't stay down. Any suggestions?

I'd call Regal, find out who made them, and see if the manufacturer has a solution. My Attwoods have adjustable spring pre-load for the locking mechanism.

Thanks, the mechanic at the marina suggested lithium grease spray. I tried it but it's too messy.

I agree with Mischief Managed. I would think that grease/lube would probably be counterproductive. It would get dirty and get affected by the weather.......as well as getting on your ropes etc. Depending on the manufacturer, you might want to try a blast of compressed air down around the vertical shafts, sometimes the lower casting drain hole can get plugged and dirt can build up on the uprights. Good luck.
Kev.
