Depends Willy. You'll need to get some measurements on the hole and see if just honing is an option......if the scuff isn't real bad. You only got about .004 to play with and that ain't a lot.<br /><br />Now this is a lot of assuming without knowing whats' in the holes. But, again assuming it's just a scuff, you can just bore one hole and hone and re-ring the others. But again all the holes will need miked to make sure they are still in spec. Generally, you don't have to go over .020 to get rid of a scuff.<br /><br />But, again, we really need to open up the holes and take a look. And, if you do decide to rebuild, don't forget the carbs. Over haul them as part of the engine rebuild.<br /><br />A long shot here, have you ever decarbed the engine? On occasion, a good decarb can bring an engine back to life. Several products on the market to do this job and it's easy. Why I mention decarb, you posted you have had regular maint on the engine but spoke nothing of decarb. It's possible that the ring(s) of #1 pistion could be sticking and giving you the low compression reading. A decarb could free up the rings and get the engine back on track.<br /><br />Lot of stuff to throw at ya' Willy but covering all the bases can help getting the overall job done and done right.<br /><br />And just one more thing.....

.....if you don't have a service manual for the engine, get one. Get the OEM and not the generics. The OEM's give you specific info on your specific engine as well as step by step instructions on maint including rebuild. Ken Cook, marine.com all sell reprints of the manuals and have sites from which to order on line.<br /><br />OK.....I'm done........for now.
