WINTERIZING O/B MOTOR

I JUST PURCHASED 70 HP O/B EVINRUDE. IT HAD BEEN KEPT IN HEATED GARAGE, AND NOT WINTERIZED. MY GARAGE IS NOT HEATED. WHAT DO I DO TO WINTERIZE THE MOTOR??

hello<br /> on an outboard its self draining so winterizing really has nothing to do with cold protection on an outboard. what your trying to do is protect the oil system,fuel system and the shiney parts. I add stabilizer to FRESH fuel and run the engine 10-15 min, fog the motor with fogging oil as per the cans instructions clean all filters and oil tanks. check all lines,hoses and electrical connections to include a good coating of fluid film. mostly what your trying to do is maint and preventing system degradation during storage.

Be sure to drain the lower unit and refill it with fresh lub. If there is any water in the lower unit it could freeze and crack the housing.
