During starting the motor cranks and gas comes out of all six carb intakes along with injected oil. Only after drying off plugs it will start and smoke very badly and will olny run with throttle advance near full. Is it possible the automatice choke is sticking? How do you troubleshoot that problem or any suggestions?

I troubleshot problem to faulty push-to-choke ignition switch. Contacts remained closed even when switch was not pushed in. A quick way to check this is to remove the middle wire from the back of the switch (it controls primer solenoid) and look for absence of voltage to wires going to primer solenoid with ignition turned to on not start. Cheap plastic switch.
