fiberglass fuel tank

anyone know if aquasport used fiberglass fuel tanks in their 1970's boats? this new ethanol gas supposedly will deteroiate them. have a 74 17ft. cc. thanks, gary

I think they where metal. Pull the inspection cover and check it.

Hi Gary-- I'm just about to pull the trigger on a deal to buy a 1979 Aquasport 170, which I assume is much like yours. How do you like the boats handling characteristics? Anything I should look for before I buy? I plan to use it for inshore fishing in LI Sound. A 2001 75 hp Merc comes with it. The owner is taking me out for a sea trial either this Sunday or next. Any advice & wisdom much appreciated.
