Well, I know it's not the fix all, but for now, it's the fix.

Spent lot of time messing with this transom, and at least 6 or 7 trips to home depot, for tools "excuse for new tools, lol", and material. I know, I know, it's not the correct way, but someone else is going to have to shell out 4k for a 1,500K boat to fix it correct. I cut out the rot, basically...

Thoughts on Home depot resin and glass, by bondo?

Was going to throw on a few layers of this since I know nothing about glassing, or where else to get it besides lowes/depot. Hoping it's decently strong, and not sure how many layers on the transom to help out. Can I just keep adding layer after layer, or is there a point to which it's reached...

Wow! I may be in trouble with flex, and now I see why.

Re: Wow! I may be in trouble with flex, and now I see why. Drying out with a fan what I've cut out. I noticed that the c clamp doesn't even rest on the transom. Hangs about an inch above it. If you can see it in the pic, I dug out about half and inch of rot, and flattened it out the whole...

Still not sure what I'm going to do about transom rot I found yesterday.

Re: Still not sure what I'm going to do about transom rot I found yesterday. Notice how the C clamp for the engine mount is like 1 inch high, and isn't even touching the whatever you call that place it's supposed to rest on?

Still not sure what I'm going to do about transom rot I found yesterday.

After having such a great day, washed, waxed, sea foamed, and getting ready for the river this weekend, I read a thread about how much transom flex is acceptable. I knew I had flex, but thought it was normal for a 300 plus pound engine to flex some wood and fiberglass a little. Guess not. Just...

Wow! I may be in trouble with flex, and now I see why.

After reading another thread on here about how much flex is ok, and none is, I checked mine, and my heart just sank. Whoever put the motor on just drilled 4 holes through the back of the boat, and caulked it with something. Obviousley the calking didn't do it's job. Bolts were lose, so I went...

    Seafoamed her today

And was the first time using the muffs. They didn't want to stay on very well, and I was worried about it not getting enough water. One of the little exit ports is about an inch below where the muffs fit, the other on the other side above the muffs, which wasn't pumping much water, if any after...

Brand new rebuilt starter sticking up, splines getting hammered from opposite side.

I've noticed this for a week or so, and finally seen it stick today with the engine cover off. I did have all my spark plugs out, while checking compression. Not sure if it had something to do with it this time, but the wear on the wrong side of the gears started almost immediately after I...

What are your thoughts on using sea foam on a 2 stroke?

I see people putting this in their cars, but not just in the gas tank like I was going to to for my boat. They use a vacume line, and suck it into the engine, until it stalls, which doesn't sound all that great to do to your car to me. Is there a way to do this to the boat motor, or should I...

Using boat battery with fish finder makes it un accurate?

I noticed by trying to get rid of extra weight in this new boat I just purchased, that by using the battery to the boat engine to run my fish/depth finder makes it go nuts after 2 mph. jumps to 600 to 900 feet deep in 10 feet of water. I'm thinking it has to do with the engine rpm's and the...

    93 seadoo xp 650 missing

I've had it since 98 and had a new engine put in back in 02. Probably about time to sell. Anywho, it's starting to miss a lot, and I just changed spark plugs, but didn't really help. It's got dual carbs, and I've noticed it's always had a "power band" that kicks in after 4,500 or so rpm...

Jebus, I should have been a mobile marine mechanic. $50 to show up, $85 an hour??

And that's without parts....I'm new to boats, as I just bought one that needs help last week. Even the trailer has issues with a not vertical wheel, wearing it down on the edge of the tire. I rushed into it, excited, and was told everything works great. Stupid me.

bought old boat last week and motor shakes the whole boat at lower RPM.

73 johnson, on 17 foot boat. 115 hp, and I've noticed it shakes bad under 2,200 rpm while in gear. Idles ok, and slowest is ok, but when I give it gas "not hole shot power" but slowly, it starts shaking and acting like it doesn't want to go, but after up to the 2,ooo plus RPM, it's fine. Carb...

    First thread/post. Q about prop size 1973 Johnson 115

Re: First thread/post. Q about prop size 1973 Johnson 115 Your right. The guy said it doesn't have trim. Guess I thought it did since I can tilt the motor up out of the water. Hmm. There are 4 or 5 holes. I tried the farthest hole that trims it up. Would go straight fine, but when turning...

Bent axle, or just need bearings replaced?

One of my wheels is not perfectly vertical like the other one, and shows on the tire wear. Just bought the boat/trailer last week, and totally missed this while looking at it. Single axle late 70's early 80's caulkins trailer. If it is just the bearings, what would something like this cost to...

    First thread/post. Q about prop size 1973 Johnson 115

Just bought a boat last week and had it out twice now with a few quirks. 1980 17 foot fiberform waikiki. There are a couple of dings on the prop I have now, which is a Michigan 13 1/4 with 17 pitch. I'm only running 34 tops at 5,300 rpm. Used to have a simular size glastron 78 with a 135...
