1976 115 Evinrude with 135 carbs and bubble back exhaust WOT timing

The old man that owned my most recent motor before me apparently tried to add HP to my '76 115 by adding larger carbs and exhaust backing. With the motor on the back of my 17 foot Checkmate I am only going 43 mph at around 4300 rpm with a 1/4 tank gas and my 130 lb girlfriend aboard. The prop is...

    115 Evinrude Timing Adjustment

I've got my '76 115 Evinrude all gone through except for the timing. I am pretty sure it is not advancing as it should. I have the proper Clymer guide for this model and have read up on this procedure. Is there any way of getting around the use of a test prop? Does anyone have a good idea of...

    1976 Evinrude Vernatherm

I've got a 1976 115 Evinrude on the back of my Predictor right now. I've cleaned the motor up pretty good and it sure sounds mean when I crank it up, however I'd really like to check the vernatherm just to ensure proper cooling. Normally I'd be able to access the housing relatively easily on...

    1977 powerhead for 1986 body

Does anyone have a chart of some sort that will show power head compatibility? I have a 1977 engine block and a 1986 body. The power head is 115 horses and the body originally had 90 on it. Thanks

Will 1986 controls work with 1977 motor

I've got a 1986 90 hp Evinrude that has a blown power head. I will possibly buy a 1977 85 hp Johnson to replace it, but i'd like to keep my tilt and trim. Could I have my Evinrude controls and trim motor rigged up to the Johnson? Thanks,

    1986 90 hp powerhead swap

Recently got a good deal on a 1984 Checkmate. The 1986 90hp evinrude has a scored cylinder and I am looking at swapping it with another engine block. I was wondering if anyone knew which years would fit on here. I am looking at a 1985 100 hp evinrude and a 1984 90 hp evinrude. Any info is...

    Sunk 70 hp johnson

My boat sank last night from heavy rain. Just got it flipped over. Should it be fine with a complete fuel flush and new plugs? It sank in fresh water. Thanks!

Wiring lights with 3 position switch

I am going to make an attempt to install navigation lights on my 17 foot bass boat. I have a 3 position switch that I would like to use and I do not know exactly how to wire it. Could anyone draw or refer me to a good diagram to use? Here is a rough illustration of what I am working with. Thanks!

    1964 3.5 Wizard Shaft Seal

I've got an old McCulloch made Wizard up an running, but after using it I find the gearcase oil to be milky with water in it. I'd like to replace all the seals in the lower unit, namely the propeller shaft seal, but I have no idea as to what I can replace them with. I've never really done...

    1964 3.5 hp McCulloch Wizard

I recently picked a 1964 3.5 hp McCulloch made Wizard from my grandpa. MLM 6904B. Flywheel will not spin, took lower unit off. Gears are rusted but do not look too bad, they turn and whatnot. This leads me to believe the piston is seized? Still working at tearing it down with my spare time. Any...
